Florian Adolph (*1977, lebt in Frankfurt) studierte Interdisziplinäre Kunst und Freie Malerei an der Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main. Seit 2006 setzt er sich mit den Bedingungen menschlicher Wahrnehmung im medialen Kontext auseinander. Dabei oszilliert seine Motivsprache bewusst zwischen Abstraktion und Gegenständlichkeit und hinterfragt derart Wahrnehmungsmuster. Vor diesem Hintergrund entwickelt er neue interdisziplinäre künstlerische Produktionsweisen. In seinen aktuellen Werken nutzt Florian Adolph die Blockchain-Technologie in Form von NFTs. Damit erweitert er seine Arbeit um die Dimension der Funktionalität. Zur Art Cologne hat Florian Adolph für uns eine Serie von 10 signierten Drucken auf Papier realisiert. EigentümerInnen eines dieser physischen Drucke erhalten dazu über provinz.digital das jeweils entsprechende NFT als digitales Original. Zusätzlich werden wir je 10 NFT- „PrintingBlocks“ auf der Blockchain Ethereum und der Blockchain WAX veröffentlichen. Jeder „PrintingBlock“ ist ein Unikat, das jeweils ab dem 01.01.2022 ein Jahr lang automatisch jeden Monat einen neuen digitalen Unikatdruck generiert. Durch diese funktionale Referenz zu Druckstock und Druck verdeutlicht Florian Adolph die gleichwertige Bedeutung analoger und digitaler Prozesse für seine Arbeit.
Florian Adolph (born 1977) studied Interdisciplinary Art and Free Painting at the Städelschule academy of fine arts in Frankfurt am Main. Since 2006, his work has focused on the conditions of human perception in a medial context, using imagery that consciously vacillates between abstraction and representationalism, always questioning these perceptual patterns. Against this backdrop, he develops new, interdisciplinary methods of artistic production. In his current works, Florian Adolph uses blockchain technology in the form of NFTs, thus expanding his work to include the dimension of functionality. In time for the Art Cologne art fair, Florian Adolph has realised a series of 10 signed prints on paper for provinz.digital. The owners of these physical prints will receive the respective, corresponding NFTs as a digital original via provinz.digital; we will also publish ten unique NFT “PrintingBlocks” on the Ethereum and WAX blockchains. Each “PrintingBlock” will automatically generate one new unique digital print per month for a year from January 1st, 2022. With this functional reference to prints and printing plates, Florian Adolph illustrates the equal importance of analogue and digital processes for his work.
